Overview

The Mass General Brigham Women's Heart Health Fellowship Program provides specialized training in cardiovascular disease in women. The program addresses sex-specific cardiovascular risk factors, diagnostic approaches, and treatment strategies. Fellows gain expertise in pregnancy-related cardiovascular conditions, spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD), microvascular disease, and other conditions disproportionately affecting women.

Requirements

  • Completion and passing of all three United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) steps. Canadian medical school graduates are exempt if they have passed similar exams in Canada.
  • Board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
  • A full Massachusetts state medical license (limited license if on visa), if accepted into the program.
  • A valid Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certificate for all foreign medical graduates.
  • J-1 visa for non-U.S. citizens (Please note, this is the only type of visa accepted).
  • Completion of a previous cardiology fellowship.

Curriculum

Clinical rotations in the Women's Heart Health program. Pregnancy-related cardiovascular conditions. Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD). Microvascular disease. Sex-specific cardiovascular risk assessment. Outpatient women's cardiology clinic.

Research Experience

Research opportunities in sex-specific cardiovascular disease mechanisms, outcomes, and treatment strategies. Clinical trials and translational research in women's heart health.
