Overview
The Allergy and Immunology Fellowship at BWH has trained academic leaders for more than 50 years. The program accepts outstanding residents who have completed training in Pediatrics or Medicine. Over 75% of graduates in the past ten years hold full-time faculty positions at US medical schools. Alumni include 90+ full professors and four past presidents of the AAAAI.
Requirements
Completed residency in Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, or Medicine/Pediatrics.
Curriculum
First 12 months: clinical training across inpatient and outpatient settings including the Severe Asthma Program, Mastocytosis Center, Drug Hypersensitivity and Desensitization Center, Immunodeficiency Clinic, AERD Center, and Food Allergy Center. Rotations at BWH Hale Building, Chestnut Hill, Boston Children’s, Newton Wellesley, and DFCI Infusion Centers. Subspecialty rotations in Dermatology, ENT, Pulmonary, and Rheumatology. Research component (2–3 years) supported by NIH Training Grant.
Research Experience
NIH T32 Training Grant supports 2–3 years of research in cellular/molecular immunology, genomics, metabolomics, clinical epidemiology, bioinformatics, and clinical trials.
