Mass General Brigham Vascular Neurology Fellowship
Message from the Director
Welcome to the Mass General Brigham fellowship program in Vascular Neurology. We are a program steeped in tradition and have trained numerous fellows who are currently leaders in the field of vascular neurology, neurocritical care and interventional neuroradiology.
The outstanding care, clinical and research innovations, and clinical and research leadership both provided and generated by our graduates has played a significant role in the transformation of acute and preventative stroke care for patients across the world.
Our fellowship program is a one-year ACGME-accredited fellowship in vascular neurology. Our acute stroke services, stroke inpatient and outpatient units and Neurointensive care units are among the busiest in the country, with unmatched access to clinical and imaging technology. Fellows experience a broad clinical experience. They take care of patients on the acute stroke and telestroke services, the inpatient stroke service, the Neurosciences intensive care unit, and the stroke prevention clinic. Fellows also gain expertise in Neurosonology with the performance and interpretation of transcranial and carotid doppler ultrasonography and Neuroradiology with the interpretation of the most up to date neuroimaging techniques for patients with acute neurologic disorders. Through our collaboration with Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, one of the most renowned rehabilitation hospitals in the country, fellows train in neurorehabilitation.
While the one-year fellowship is heavily clinically based, all fellows are strongly encouraged and supported in their development of independent basic science and/or clinical research projects in collaboration with members of the department. We believe that learning and applying a scientifically based rigorous approach to data analysis, at the bedside and in research, are the foundation for providing outstanding care to the patients of today and improving the care of patients of tomorrow. In addition to the one-year ACGME-accredited fellowship, we also offer an additional optional one-year stroke research fellowship. Collaborative opportunities for research are available at MGH and BWH as well as Harvard Medical School and MIT.
We are very proud of our tradition and eager to welcome the future in vascular neurology with new trainees every July.
We are seeking applicants for this program for the July 1, 2028 to June 30, 2029 term. We offer salary commensurate with a PGY-level. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
Sincerely,
Scott Silverman
Program Director

Requirements
Prior to starting fellowship, applicants must have completed an ACGME-accredited program in neurology, child neurology, neurodevelopment disabilities, or a program in one of these specialties that is located in Canada and accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Applicants are also required to successfully complete USMLE Step II CK, CS, and Step III. Canadian physicians and Doctors of Osteopathy who are eligible for licensure may substitute successful completion of LMCC/MCCQE and COMLEX examinations, respectively, in lieu of USMLE examinations.
