Laboratory Genetics and Genomics Fellowship
Overview
The BWH Department of Pathology ABMGG (American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics) fellowship is ACGME-accredited and requires a minimum of 24 months. The fellowship integrates training in both clinical cytogenetics and clinical molecular genetics into a single primary specialty. Fellows spend dedicated time on constitutional and somatic genetics while rotating through Harvard-affiliated laboratories.
Curriculum
Experience in conventional cytogenetic and cutting-edge molecular cytogenomic techniques. Training in major clinical indications for testing and clinical implications of results across sample types including peripheral bloods, fibroblasts, amniotic fluids, chorionic villi, hematology-oncology specimens, and solid tumors. Fellows participate in didactic sessions, seminars, new assay validation, and assume responsibility for carrying a clinical pager.
Research Experience
Active role in new assay validation. Access to Harvard-affiliated laboratory network.
