MGH Pharmacy Residency PGY2 - Infectious Diseases
Overview
This dynamic specialty residency offers residents a broad range of learning experiences designed to develop critical skills in infectious diseases (ID) pharmacotherapy. The MGH ID division includes of 6 general adult ID consult teams, including a team staffed by experts in HIV care, as well as dedicated transplant, hematology/oncology and pediatric ID consult services. Residents work collaboratively with pharmacy preceptors, infectious diseases fellows and attendings to optimize antimicrobial therapy and patient outcomes.
The resident will also play an active role in clinical and administrative antimicrobial stewardship initiatives across all hospital departments. Participation in the pharmacy department and ID division active learning opportunities (including case conferences, pharmacy grand rounds, and journal clubs) provides residents with tailored opportunities to strengthen their teaching, leadership, and clinical reasoning skills. Teaching experience is provided through pharmacy and ID division group discussions, precepting pharmacy students and residents, and participation in an optional teaching certificate program through Northeastern University School of Pharmacy. Finally, residents contribute to local and system-wide interdisciplinary committees focused on infectious diseases management and antimicrobial stewardship.
