Laboratory of David J. Combs, MD PhD
The Combs Lab at Brigham and Women’s Hospital is focused on understanding how the location and timing of uterine contractions are controlled in pregnancy.
Overview
The timing and strength of uterine contractions directly impact preterm birth, successful labor, and obstetric hemorrhage. How the uterus coordinates periodic labor contractions is unknown. We study how uterine contractions start and propagate at organ scale using functional imaging approaches in animal models.
