Living Tissue Center at Mass General Brigham

The LTC enables access to human healthy and diseased tissues and their derived-products so researchers can perform diverse downstream assays, including omics, drug discovery, functional precision medicine.

Overview

The Living Tissue Center provides streamlined, off-the-shelf access to large cohorts of healthy and diseased human tissues, enabling researchers to perform a wide range of downstream assays. We offer both fresh and banked specimens, along with customizable cryopreservation services tailored to specific research needs. In addition, we support high-throughput, continuous culture and analysis of select living tissues using advanced autonomous robotic systems.

With support from the Mass Life Sciences Center, we are building the core infrastructure to scale and sustain this resource. While our long-term vision is to remain disease-agnostic, our current efforts are focused on establishing robust pipelines for cancerous tissues and matched healthy controls. We also assist in connecting research teams with specialized specimens beyond our current offerings.

We welcome collaboration and encourage you to reach out as we continue to expand our capabilities.

Study Development Support: We enable matching teams with MGB researchers with expertise in specific disease areas of interest.

Banking of specimens: We are scaling our capacity for banked specimens and prospective collection of specimens.

Development of State-of-the-Art Cryopreservation Techniques: To address the growing demand for viable samples in functional studies, we also offer unique cryopreservation services for banking living human tissues.

Living Tissue Discovery Platforms: We deploy autonomous robotic systems to support high-throughput, continuous culture and analysis of living human tissues. These customizable platforms enable robust functional studies across diverse cells, tissues, and organs, accelerating reproducible translational research and advanced screening applications.
