Overview

The Center for Transplantation Sciences (CTS) at Massachusetts General Brigham is a multidisciplinary research center working at the interface between basic and clinical science. Our mission is to improve outcomes and quality of life for transplant patients by advancing the understanding of immune responses following transplantation, developing strategies to achieve immune tolerance, and advancing pig-to-human xenotransplantation. The CTS comprises approximately 80 faculty and staff across 19 scientific laboratories.

Research focus areas

  • Organ Transplantation
  • Bone Marrow Transplantation
  • Transplant Tolerance
  • Xenotransplantation
  • Basic, translational, and human Immunology
  • Omics/Biomarkers
  • Organ Perfusion for Repair and Immune Modulation

Educational Opportunities

The CTS educational programs build on the dynamic environment at Massachusetts General Brigham, and Harvard Medical School to optimize individual training experiences by:

  • Expanding into new areas of multidisciplinary research
  • Actively recruiting trainees and faculty into a welcoming and supportive environment
  • Advancing excellence in scientific mentorship

CTS offers various educational opportunities, including:

  • Seminars and workshops: Regular sessions with leading experts in transplantation biology.
  • Research symposia: Annual events for trainees to present their findings and network within the community.

By investing in education and training, CTS empowers future leaders who will innovate and improve outcomes for patients awaiting life-saving transplants. Join us in shaping the future of transplantation medicine, making a lasting impact on patient care.
