Overview
The goal of this laboratory is to investigate the mechanisms that drive immune evasion and therapeutic resistance in solid tumors, including rare orthopedic malignancies, with a strong translational focus. We study how CAR T cells can be reprogrammed to overcome barriers in the tumor microenvironment and convert immunologically “cold” tumors into “hot” states. We also explore the mechanisms by which radiation-based in situ cancer vaccines induce immunogenic cell death and systemic antitumor immunity. In parallel, we examine how therapy- and age-associated immunosenescence shapes tumor progression and resistance to immune checkpoint blockade, and use these insights to guide the development of next-generation immunotherapies.
