Overview
The Shreffler Lab focuses on the characterization of adaptive immune responses to dietary antigens and the mechanisms of allergen-induced Th2 sensitization versus oral tolerance and the immunopathogenesis of food allergy (FA).
Research Projects
Areas of active investigation in my laboratory include: 1) the role of CD4 T cell phenotype and repertoire diversity in natural and immunotherapy-induced oral tolerance versus inflammation; 2) the role of CD4 T cell phenotype and repertoire diversity in the natural history of non-IgE mediated food allergy, particularly EoE; 3) the role of GPR15-mediated migration and activation on CD4 T cells in the context of allergic disease; and 4) the translation of insights from these studies into improved diagnosis/prognosis of food allergy in the near term and therapeutics in the longer term.
