Research Group of Krishna Reddy, MD, MS

Krishna Reddy, MD, MS, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and a pulmonary and critical care physician at Massachusetts General Hospital. The goal of Dr. Reddy’s research program is to provide evidence- and model-based approaches to clinical decision-making and public health policy, both in the US and in international settings.

Overview

Dr. Reddy’s research informs clinical and public health policy for tuberculosis, HIV-related comorbidities, and tobacco and nicotine in the US and internationally. He integrates methods of simulation modeling, clinical epidemiology, and cost-effectiveness analysis to examine clinical and economic outcomes and the value that could be gained from additional studies to inform decision-making.

A central theme of Dr. Reddy’s work is translating clinical and public health data into actionable insights for decision-making. As a member of the Medical Practice Evaluation Center and the Tobacco Research and Treatment Center, he develops evidence to inform clinical guidelines and public health policy, optimize resource allocation, and guide implementation strategies. His research has contributed to understanding the cost-effectiveness of new strategies to prevent, diagnose, and treat tuberculosis as well as recognizing the long-term health consequences of tobacco smoking among people with HIV.

Research Projects

Dr. Reddy leads a portfolio of research in which he applies decision analytic methods to study the clinical and economic impact of interventions targeting tuberculosis, HIV, and tobacco use. These approaches allow for evaluation of screening strategies, treatment interventions, and prevention policies to inform decisions about their implementation in real-world settings. His projects extend to emerging public health challenges, including the impact of e-cigarette regulation.

A broadening area of Dr. Reddy’s work is in applying value-of-information and value-of-implementation analytic methods to understand the value of different study designs in informing clinical decisions and improving health outcomes. He uses these tools in collaboration with clinical trial networks to help inform trial design and prioritization. Collectively, his work supports the Division’s mission to advance data-driven and globally relevant approaches to pulmonary and critical care medicine.
