Rheumatology, Inflammation, and Immunity Clinical Research
Overview
Welcome to Clinical Research in the Division of Rheumatology, Inflammation and Immunity at Massachusetts General & Brigham and Women’s Hospitals. We are now formally integrated, synergizing our strong clinical research and training environments. Our mission is to study and determine the causes of rheumatic diseases and their complications, and to develop and test innovative prevention and treatments to improve the lives of those living with these conditions.
We are located in the Hale Building for Transformative Medicine at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and the Yawkey Building at Massachusetts General Hospital, and combine our strong clinical and research groups in rheumatology and immunology, epidemiology and biostatistics, with expertise in pulmonary, renal medicine, orthopedics, dermatology, obstetrics and gynecology, cardiology and other clinical specialties at Mass General Brigham.
We are a large group of highly collaborative clinical and translational research principal investigators, with many research personnel, fellows and trainees. Our research conditions of interest include rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus and related conditions, vasculitis, IgG4 disease, scleroderma, gout and pseudogout, Lyme disease, osteoporosis, psoriatic arthritis, and osteoarthritis. We study biomarkers and risk factors for disease, quality of care, disparities, drug safety and comparative effectiveness, imaging and testing strategies for improving care and outcomes.
