Biomedical Imaging Research Core (BICOR)

BICOR produces radiotracers for research staff and clinicians. The facility includes a GE PETtrace 880 16.5 MeV medical cyclotron, a PET Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)-compliant radiotracer sterile processing facility, a Massachusetts-licensed Nuclear Pharmacy, a micro-PET/CT small animal imaging lab, and other laboratories supporting radiopharmaceutical research & development. Our cyclotron produces PET isotopes, C-11, N-13, O-15, and F-18 from which a variety of compounds are prepared for both pre-clinical and human use.

Initiating Orders for Radiotracers

To provide all the information needed for ordering, delivery and invoicing of radiotracers, please fill out a form below and email it to bwhbicor_orders@mgb.org.

Place an order for a radiotracer for clinical use on a specific date by contacting the Nuclear Pharmacy directly. Doses must be entered into the Nuclear Medicine Information System (NMIS). Please email including all the following pharmacists. Someone is available 4:30 AM to 4:30 PM weekdays.
Main Line, BWH Nuclear Pharmacy: 617-732-7171

Place an order for a radiotracer for research in humans or preclinical study by first contacting the radiochemists listed below to discuss available production dates and times. The radiochemists will coordinate with the nuclear pharmacy. All human use doses must be entered into NMIS or ordered by authorized personnel on behalf of a study investigator using the order form below.. Radiochemists availability to respond varies due to scheduling. Please try to place requests at least a week in advance. The order form shows the necessary planning information.

Standard Prices

Prices for our services are reviewed annually and may change each year in response to market conditions, operational costs, and other economic factors. Click here to view FY26 standard pricing. This list includes clinical use and research compounds, as well as small animal imaging services*

Other Pricing

Please contact BICOR for pricing on any compound not listed above. BICOR can also prepare estimates to develop cGMP-compliant processes for novel and literature compounds not listed on our site. Send inquiries to Jonathan Barlow at jkbarlow@bwh.harvard.edu.

Small Animal Imaging Services

BICOR provides imaging services for MicroPET/CT and MicroSPECT. Animals may be brought to the facility in Thorn where staff will administer anesthetic and radiotracers and perform imaging, and as needed, staff will perform additional procedures. To arrange for these services, please contact Shuyan Wang at swang14@bics.bwh.harvard.edu
*Prices are per hour of service, prorated 15 min. intervals.

BICOR is committed to increasing the list of available compounds in response to the changing needs of the community. Staff members are prepared to work with researchers to identify literature compounds as well as to support effort to bring novel compounds through chemistry development, pre-clinical production, and translation to first in human studies.
