Overview

The Mass General Department of Pathology research portfolio is dedicated to research that advances mechanistic understanding, diagnosis and treatment of human diseases through a wide range of basic science, translational and clinical investigation. MGB Pathology has a long tradition of strong clinical and translational research. Our Research Division plays an important role in bridging clinical and laboratory research interests and promoting collaborative interactions among the diverse faculty.

Research focus areas

Significant technological improvements in molecular pathology, imaging, and informatics have been driving rapid advances in understanding of disease mechanisms, improved capabilities for earlier and more accurate diagnosis, and development of more efficacious and targeted therapies.

Pathology education and training opportunities

The Department of Pathology is deeply committed to training expert clinicians, researchers, clinical investigators, and medical educators who will go on to be future leaders in the field.
