Fellowships and Training

ACGME-Certified Fellowship Training
The Massachusetts General and Brigham and Women's Hospitals have integrated their Infectious Disease Fellowship Training Programs to offer unparalleled opportunities for clinical and research training in Infectious Diseases at Harvard Medical School. For more information, visit the Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program website.
Post-doctoral research fellowships

Post-doctoral research fellows are supported by three separate NIH T32 research grants that are directed by MGB ID faculty:

  1. 1. Laboratory-based HIV research (PI: Dr. Daniel Kuritzkes, T32 AI 157854): Potential areas of investigation include any HIV-related laboratory or translational research.
  2. HIV clinical research (PI: Dr. Mark Siedner, T32 AI 007433): Potential areas of investigation include HIV-related clinical and/or population research, including clinical epidemiology, outcomes, implementation science, and health policy studies. This grant also frequently supports one slot each year that can support someone pursuing clinical research related to populations that does not necessarily focus explicitly on HIV but have shared risk factors (eg study of tuberculosis, HCV, sexually transmitted infections, and other related conditions)..
  3. Fundamental investigation into infectious diseases and microbiology (PI Dr. Marcia Goldberg, T32 AI 007061): Potential areas of investigation include fundamental and/or epidemiological research relating to infectious diseases, its pathogenesis, and/or microbiology, not related to HIV.
Support for post-doctoral fellows on these T32 grants includes salary or stipend, registration and travel to professional meetings, and other training-related expenses. Tuition for the Program in Clinical Effectiveness (PCE) at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health or PhD coursework may be covered for some fellows. Applicants are nominated by a mentor who is an independently funded investigator. These research training programs are designed to support early career scientists with protected time, hands-on mentorship, and didactics to prepare them for careers in research careers, be they in academia or elsewhere.
Adult Infectious Disease & Basic Microbiologic Mechanisms Training Program
The Adult Infectious Disease and Basic Microbiological Mechanisms Training Program is a Harvard-wide training program dedicated to the education of those infectious disease fellows and PhD postdoctoral fellows interested in pursuing careers as physician-scientists or scientists with a focus on investigation into important questions in non-HIV microbiology and infectious diseases.
Transplant Infectious Disease & Compromised Host Fellowship
This program provides advanced training in the infectious disease management of solid organ and stem cell transplant recipients and patients with immunocompromises, i.e. hematopoietic malignancy, those following CAR-T and immunotherapies.
ID Elective for Medical Students
The monthly clinical elective in Infectious Diseases at Mass General Hospital is structured around the consultation services provided by the Infectious Disease Division.
Infectious Diseases in Adults 2025 CME Course
This comprehensive CME program ensures attendees are current with state-of-the-art approaches to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases. Updates, best practices, and new guidelines are presented by nationally recognized ID experts and master clinicians.
Mass General Brigham ID Images
The Division of Infectious Diseases, in collaboration with the Mass General Brigham AIDS Research Center and the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, has developed an online, case and image-based learning tool called Mass General Brigham Infectious Disease Images.
HIV Online Provider Education (HOPE)
The HIV Online Provider Education (HOPE) program is a twice-monthly conference involving several hundred doctors and nurses in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and other parts of the world. Each conference is also archived for later viewing.
