Overview

Research in the Division of Thoracic Surgery at Mass General Brigham spans clinical, translational, and basic science and is aimed at improving the diagnosis and treatment of thoracic diseases. Investigators study lung, esophageal and other cancers of the chest. Research is also focused on end stage lung disease and transplantation, airway and chest wall disorders, surgical innovation, and patient outcomes using approaches that range from population-based data science to laboratory models of disease. By integrating clinical expertise with scientific discovery, the division seeks to advance surgical care and improve outcomes for patients with diseases of the chest.
